For the first time in its history, the legendary Volvo Ocean Race will be making a stop in The Hague. On June 18, 19 and 20, the harbor of Scheveningen will be home to the race, with a three-day festival offering a host of activities, a children’s program and concerts by some of the Netherlands’ best performers.
When the seven participating teams arrive in The Hague, they will have crossed almost 60,000 kilometers of sea. Finally they will be allowed to stretch their legs in this international city of peace and justice – as it is known across the world.
But these days are not only fun for sailing aficionados or sports fans; they are sure to appeal to a wider public as well. The festival and its attractions are free of entry. There will be a lot to see and to experience – even if sailing is not at all your thing. Music lovers will come to the Volvo Ocean Race Festival just to see the nation’s best performers, such as Anouk, Golden Earring, Racoon, DI-RECT, Typhoon, Miss Montreal, Gers Pardoel and Nielson. Concert tickets cost € 25.
