International School Utrecht has recently been accredited by the International Baccalaureate to teach the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) and the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP). Receiving IB accreditation for the Primary Years as well as the Middle Years Programme at the start of the fourth academic year is an excellent achievement and a reflection of the hard-working, passionate and dedicated staff the school has managed to attract over the past few years. Teaching staff, as well as the leadership team, have worked tirelessly to prepare the school for both verification visits last autumn, culminating in two very positive reports from the International Baccalaureate.
Also IB Diploma Programme (DP) authorisation is in the pipeline; International School Utrecht is preparing for the verification visit this May and aims to welcome its first IB DP students in August 2016.
Universities across the globe value students who take on the IB Diploma Programme, as it is not only academically rigourous, but also teaches important life skills. Theory of knowledge for instance, is one of the core components of the programme, which each student must successfully complete. Theory of Knowledge gives students a greater awareness of how they acquire knowledge; this helps them to become better learners.
