In recent times, the world of Michelin-awarded Chefs has taken a bit of a beating in the greater The Hague area. Restaurants have closed, or moved away, and chefs have found a new venue.

Yet, though several great chefs have left us, there is also a movement the opposite direction. Enter Erik Tas.

With his multi-star kitchen background one might expect (very) fine cooking, swift and personal service in the competent hands of girlfriend Ieteke, and outstanding wines. If so, all your wishes will come true in restaurant Bij Erik in Leidschendam.

The Hague is one of the first Dutch cities to boast a restaurant specialised in the ‘new Nordic cuisine’. It is called BØG (Danish for Birch Tree) and is owned by Peter Norré Sørensen.

In the kitchen, we find a young Chef we had lost track of; Kasper Verlinden. He used to shine in Crème Crue, one of the best tables in The Hague, yet unfortunately one that did not survive the 2008 crisis. This guy can cook! Very fresh and well-chosen ingredients go into creating really fine dishes. Light, elegant tastes with lots of harmony. Should Mister Michelin hop by to hand out a Michelin Star, it would not surprise us.
